Emb Hashmi is an award winning journalist who works for the BBC.

She is also a film maker and made a short social media film called Rising Girl which is the reason the charity was founded.

Shumailla has over fifteen years policy experience in both central and local government, working on a range of policies, including education; youth violence; economic development and regeneration.

Lauren has 7+ years experience across programme management and relationship management across the educational network, with specific focus and knowledge of social integration, character development and the arts.

Emb also serves as a advisor on the Common Purpose advisory board helping to select the top young global emerging leaders.

As well as this Emb is the ambassador for the She Awards that recognise and reward inspirational women.

Shumailla Dar​

Vice Chair

Shumailla has over fifteen years policy experience in both central and local government, working on a range of policies, including education; youth violence; economic development and regeneration. With a proven track record for her extensive analytical skills and project management skills, Shumailla has commissioned and managed a number of large projects both nationally and locally.

More recently Shumailla has been working with the voluntary and community sector to explore how to address some of the challenges facing local government including devising innovative and creative funding opportunities to enable sustainable, community led solutions.

One of Shumailla’s biggest recent achievements is being successful in developing a consortium led bid with voluntary and community partners to secure £500k from the Home Office to deliver an innovative Early Intervention Youth Pilot Project in a London Borough, this winning project was just one of twenty eight projects across England and Wales.

Refat Naz Dhar

Job Title

Refat Naz Dhar is currently based in Germany where she works for an international brand managing their CRM campaigns. Previously, Refat was responsible for Consumer Affairs at Barclays Bank UK and has lengthy experience of the third sector having worked for Money Advice Trust , a national debt advice charity. Refat is a also a Mum to three young daughters, and an advocate of female empowerment and diversity.
